Tasks inspiring you
As a member of our cross-location DBA team, you will work on the database platform for our high-availability software solutions. Your tasks will include analysing and specifying the requirements of our national and international customers, as well as evaluating and developing corresponding database concepts through to implementation and testing. You will also be responsible for maintaining and documenting the databases and supporting our sales engineers in the preparation of quotations.
This includes:
Administering and optimising Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
Implementing and operating replication solutions (especially streaming replication and Patroni)
Ensuring high availability and performance of database systems
Troubleshooting and resolving database issues
Automate administrative tasks using scripting languages (e.g. Python)
Work with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to improve database architecture
Perform backups and recovery procedures
Create and maintain documentation and concepts
Support software development with table designs and SQL performance tuning
Qualifications that inspire us
Completed apprenticeship as an IT specialist or university degree (computer science, engineering or natural sciences) or comparable qualification
Sound experience in the administration of Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases
Very good knowledge of configuration and operation of replication solutions (especially streaming replication and Patroni)
Very good knowledge and practical experience of Linux (SLES) and Windows operating systems
Desirable
Experience in process automation, preferably with Python
Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible
Excellent written and spoken German and English
Team player with a high degree of initiative and problem solving skills
Good communication skills and ability to present complex technical issues in an understandable way
Willingness to travel occasionally and to participate in the second level on-call service
Good knowledge of MS Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
